Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Alfred Adler is the founder of the school of individual psychology and this school is based on concepts such as feelings of inferiority, inferiority complex, compensation mechanism, etc. According to Adler, human behavior is determined by social factors. This view has been used in the literature to examine fictional characters. In this article, an attempt has been made to address one of the most valuable themes of this view called the "inferiority complex" in the character of "Kush Pildandan" in the epic poem of Koushanameh.
METHODOLOGY: The research method is descriptive-analytical and its data is library.
FINDINGS: ugliness and abandonment by parents have been the main factors in the formation of inferiority complex in the Kush Pildandan; That with the wrong interaction of those around him, the bond of inferiority intensifies in him and disturbs his mental balance; So when he has not been able to use healthy ways to compensate for his inferiority complex and succeed, he uses unhealthy methods to balance his psychosis.
CONCLUSION: The mechanisms of compensating for stubbornness in relation to membership inferiority and rejection are: mistreatment of others, pessimism, lying, exaggeration, witnessing, resorting to immediate success, cunning, dual behavior, selfishness, selfishness, and self-criticism. And narcissism. According to Adler"s theory, the occurrence of such abnormal behaviors can only have one real factor, and that is the bond of inferiority that is manifested in the Kush Pildandan.
